Hi! My name is Thomas Ryan, and I’m from the west of Ireland. I’ve spent my career to date as an engineer in the medical device industry, but I’ve also been lucky enough to travel the world as a musician! No matter where I’ve gone, I’ve always carried a piece of Ireland with me — through music, stories, and a love of Irish heritage.

I’ve always been fascinated by the things you used to see in Ireland one time — the old telefón boxes, traditional shopfronts, vintage roadsigns and the little details that once filled our towns and villages, but are slowly disappearing. Éirlúm Designs grew from a wish to keep those memories alive in a modern, creative way.

The name “Éirlúm” is a word I came up with as a play on “heirloom”. The idea first sparked when a friend and I built a full-size Irish telefón box for our friends wedding. Guests could step inside, pick up the phone, and leave a message for the bride and groom — a playful and heartfelt mix of tradition, storytelling, and modern creativity.

From that moment, Éirlúm Designs was born — combining the precision of engineering with a love of Irish culture and design. Each piece is handmade, unique, and crafted with care to capture a sense of home and heritage. No two items are ever exactly the same, giving every creation its own story and character.
